Cremation service for Warr Acres, step by step

Yes, Alternatives Cremation & Funeral Service provides full cremation service in Warr Acres, from the first call through the return of the ashes. Our office on NW 122nd St is northeast of Warr Acres, about a 15-minute drive up N MacArthur Blvd and across to May Ave. Direct cremation begins at $695, and every step can be handled by phone or online.

The business belongs to Richard Varner, and his son Quade works with families alongside him, which means the owners themselves answer for your loved one's care. We are members of the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association, the ICCFA and the NFDA, and our General Price List is shared with you before any decision.

Warr Acres grew mostly after World War II as a town of single-family neighborhoods, and many families who call us want an honest price and clear answers more than anything else. We can come to a house near Baker-Kiwanis Park, a care center along the Northwest Expressway, or meet you at our office. Call any time to talk.

Across Warr Acres

Warr Acres, from 39th Street to Cherokee Hills

Warr Acres is its own city, about 2.8 square miles centered on N MacArthur Blvd and next to Bethany, not a part of Oklahoma City. Most of it uses ZIP code 73122, including Warr Acres City Hall on N Ann Arbor Ave, Putnam City High School on NW 50th St and Baker-Kiwanis Park on N Reeves St. The northern neighborhoods near Cherokee Hills Park and the Metro Library branch on NW 63rd St use 73132.

For Warr Acres, the closest major hospital is INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center on the Northwest Expressway, and Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City on W Memorial Rd is to the north. Warr Acres keeps its own police and fire departments, and the city is in Oklahoma County, so deaths that need review go to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Oklahoma City. We request the cremation permit from that office on your behalf.

About 10,450 people lived in Warr Acres at the 2020 census, and the Putnam City school district serves the whole city, with Putnam City High School on NW 50th St a landmark most families share. We often help a grown child settle a parent's affairs in the house they grew up in, sometimes while living across the country.

Warr Acres began in 1937 as a housing addition by real estate promoter Clyde B. Warr, and residents voted 857 to 40 to incorporate in 1948 when Bethany tried to annex part of the area. For a cemetery, many families look to Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, a Catholic cemetery at 7500 W Britton Rd with a columbarium for cremated remains. Others hold a gathering at the Cherokee Hills Park pavilion or keep the ashes at home.
