What your plan can include.
A plan can be as simple or as detailed as you like, and you can leave some choices open. Many people start with:
- Personal details for your obituary: family, education, affiliations and military service.
- Burial or cremation, and the kind of service or gathering you'd like, if any.
- Personal touches such as music, readings, photographs, flowers and the clothing you'd like.
- The people to include, such as an officiant, musicians, pallbearers and those who might share a memory.
- Final resting wishes: a cemetery or plot, an inscription, or who will keep or scatter your ashes.
Our pre-planning checklist walks through each one. Keep your plan where a trusted person can find it, date each review, and share any updates with your family.
Thinking about the cost.
Understanding today's prices can make planning feel more manageable; direct cremation with us starts at $695. We don't sell prepaid plans, so there's nothing to pay when you plan. Writing your wishes down still spares your family from guessing and from working out the details later.
Depending on the policy, life insurance or final expense benefits may also help your loved ones with funeral costs; a licensed insurance agent can explain coverage and limits. See cremation cost & packages.
If your plans change.
You can change your plan at any time. We keep a record of your arrangements on file, and if you move, ask us for a copy to take with you and share with your family.
